Dear Recreational Safety Instructors,
We wanted to provide some updates on current recreational safety topics.
No Recreational Safety Classes
We still cannot hold any recreational safety classes at this time. All State agencies are required to have an approved Safe Start Plan before certain services can resume. For the Law Enforcement Division (LED), those services include all recreational safety classes including field days. We, the DNR, have submitted our Safe Start Plan and are waiting for it to be approved by the Office of State Employer and MIOSHA. Our operating procedures for field days and classroom classes have been submitted as part of our Safe Start Plan. We will let everyone know as soon as the DNR Safe Start Plan has been approved and classes can resume.

We look forward to our classes and when we know more we will let you know here. This is the latest update from the DNR:
We still have not received approval to resume recreational safety classes as the DNR is waiting for approval of our Department wide safe start plan.
We have submitted the operational plan for hunter education field days and are awaiting approval. We have also started drafting the operational plan for classroom courses in all programs and will submit that soon for approval as well. Both operational plans require personal protective equipment (PPE) for covid (masks, gloves, sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer) and we are working on the logistics of providing those to instructors.
We will let everyone know as soon as possible when classes can resume and provide the operational plans/guidelines at that time.
